Structure and Specifications
The PVD-1912 series is a large-scale multifunctional vacuum coating system designed for high-performance thin film mass production. It features a cylindrical chamber structure with an internal dimension of Φ1900 × 1250 mm (H) and an effective deposition area of Φ1700 × 950 mm (H). This spacious design allows simultaneous processing of multiple medium- to large-sized components, meeting the requirements of both batch and large-format coating production. The front-opening configuration facilitates convenient loading, unloading, and maintenance, while the dual-layer water-cooling system maintains stable temperature control during deposition to prevent overheating, ensuring film density, color consistency, and structural integrity. Known for its high efficiency and stability, the PVD-1912 is ideal for precision decorative and functional coating applications.

Targets and Process Configuration
The system combines magnetron sputtering and cathodic arc deposition technologies, achieving both high deposition rates and excellent film density. It is equipped with eight pairs (sixteen total) of cylindrical magnetron targets, each driven by an independent AE magnetron power supply, allowing simultaneous operation of different materials or sequential multilayer deposition.
Additionally, ten cathodic arc sources (Φ100 × 40 mm) are installed using a hybrid magnetic design that integrates permanent and electromagnetic fields. The adjustable magnetic field strength enables precise control of ion energy and arc plasma distribution during deposition.

Core Configuration:

  • 16 cylindrical magnetron targets

  • 16 AE magnetron power supplies

  • 10 cathodic arc sources

  • 10 DC arc power supplies (250 A each)

  • 1 bias power supply (HorTeng Truplasma 4020, 40 kW)

  • 1 Arc Enhanced Glow Discharge (AEGD) plasma enhancement unit

  • 3 Shimadzu 350-flange turbomolecular pumps

This hybrid process configuration enables multilayer deposition of metals, nitrides, oxides, and composite films within a single chamber. By precisely adjusting target power, arc current, gas ratio, and bias voltage, the system can produce coatings with diverse functional characteristics such as high hardness, wear resistance, decorative appearance, and electrical functionality.

Common Target Materials:
Titanium (Ti), aluminum (Al), zirconium (Zr), chromium (Cr), stainless steel (SUS), tungsten (W), molybdenum (Mo), and copper (Cu), as well as alloy targets such as TiAl, CrAl, and ZrTi.
Available film types include nitrides (TiN, CrN, ZrN), carbides (TiC, WC/C), oxides (TiO₂, Al₂O₃, ZnO), and decorative color coatings.

Vacuum and Control System
The system utilizes three parallel Shimadzu 350-flange turbomolecular pumps to achieve rapid evacuation and maintain a high-vacuum environment, effectively suppressing oxidation and contamination while ensuring film purity and color stability. The fully automated control system features multi-channel monitoring and parameter adjustment, allowing precise control over magnetron target power, arc current, bias voltage, gas flow rate, and electromagnetic field strength.
Comprehensive data logging and traceability functions allow storage of multiple process recipes, ensuring consistency and repeatability in large-scale production. The user-friendly interface is designed for both process optimization and industrial automation, making it suitable for research as well as continuous manufacturing.

Application Fields
The PVD-1912 series is widely used in high-end decorative and functional coating manufacturing, particularly for applications requiring both aesthetic quality and technical performance:

  • Mobile Frames and Electronic Housings:
Designed for high-end smartphones, tablets, and wearable devices. Provides high-gloss, wear-resistant, anti-fingerprint, and corrosion-resistant coatings with customizable finishes such as gold, gunmetal, black, blue, and rose gold.

  • Premium Consumer Electronics Components:
Ideal for stainless steel, aluminum alloy, and titanium alloy parts such as device housings, buttons, and brackets. Enhances metallic texture, scratch resistance, and surface durability.

  • Decorative Coatings:
Applied to watches, eyewear frames, sanitary fittings, automotive interiors, and architectural hardware. Supports a variety of finishes including mirror gloss, gradient colors, and matte textures.

  • Functional Coatings:
By adjusting materials and process parameters, the system can produce conductive, corrosion-resistant, infrared-reflective, and electromagnetic-shielding films, suitable for electronics, optics, and industrial protection applications.

By integrating the advantages of magnetron sputtering and arc ion plating, the PVD-1912 offers a large chamber design, high deposition rate, and excellent coating uniformity. It delivers coatings with strong adhesion, superior surface smoothness, and precise color control—making it an ideal solution for high-end PVD coating production in electronics, precision manufacturing, and decorative industries.
